Vote November 3 - Capital Referendum - The Right Time. The Right Solution.
On Monday, August 17, the School District of Reedsburg Board of Education voted to place a capital referendum on the November 3, 2026, ballot.
If approved by voters, the referendum would grant the District authority to construct a new 6–8-grade middle school, with an estimated project cost of $83 million, to replace Webb Middle School and address long-term facility needs that have been discussed with the community for many years. The new school would be built on district-owned property next to Prairie Ridge Intermediate School.
The School District of Reedsburg invites all residents to attend an Information Session & Tours about the November 3 Referendum ballot question. There are three meetings scheduled:
Tuesday, September 22, 2026: Location: Webb Middle School Library Time: 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, October 7, 2026:
Location: Fusch Community Center - *Webb Middle School Virtual Tour
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Wednesday, October 7, 2026: Location: Webb Middle School Library Time: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Tour Webb Middle School: Call (608) 524-2016 to schedule a tour of Webb Middle School.
“I’m proud of the work that’s gone into this recommendation,” says Tom Burkhalter, superintendent. “The board's decision allows our community to decide how we address one of the District’s most significant long-term facility challenges. We explored multiple options, asked difficult questions, and remained focused on what best serves students over the long term. Our focus now shifts to helping the community understand the facts so they can make an informed decision on November 3.”
The Board’s vote does not approve the project; rather, it allows residents to decide the question through the November election. “Ultimately, this isn’t the Board’s decision or my decision. It’s the community’s decision. Our responsibility is to provide accurate information and ensure voters have the facts they need before Election Day,” adds Burkhalter.
