Most colleges and universities require entrance examinations for students seeking admission. The ACT is the most commonly used entrance exam for students in the Midwest. Students seeking admission to schools on the East Coast or West Coast often take the SAT. Either test will suffice when applying for admission to any college or university. When registering for the ACT or SAT, students will need to use the Reedsburg Area High School identification code of 501-950. In addition, most University of Wisconsin System schools require Placement Tests for various subjects.
Technical colleges may require alternative testing, such as the ACCUPLACER exam. Some technical colleges may accept or require the ACT test depending on the specific program.
RAHS is required to administer other tests to students throughout the school year per State and/or Federal mandates. These tests may include, but are not limited to, the ACT Plus Writing, PreACT and the Wisconsin Forward Exam.
RAHS offers other optional tests to students, including the PSAT, ASVAB and AP exams. Students must pre-register for these exams and fees may be required.
After students are accepted to a college, they are often required to take placement tests in math, English, and/or world languages. Colleges use placement testing to determine the academic skill levels of accepted students and use the test results to appropriately place students into college courses. Students should contact their college Admissions offices for more information about placement test options, registration, locations, dates, and more. Typically, placement testing takes place during the second semester of the student's senior year of high school.
